Big Brother

Big Brother is one hell of a network monitoring tool. It lets you know what's going on (and what's going wrong) on your network and systems ina visual format, by email and even by pager! What's more, it's free! If you need a monitoring tools, look no further.

Only my bb-client archive is here at the moment (no it still looks ugly), but I will be making my other stuff available soon (when it's documented & cleaned up). Including :-

• bbuptime.pl - Monitors system uptime via SNMP. This was to check that there is no network hardware that is crashing & immeditately rebboting. (In our case, this was an FDDI switch (nasty problem).
• bbsitecheck - This is a web-site content monitor that I wrote a while back and decided to integrate into bb - it works quite well. "You can't be certain they can't break in, but you can be the first to know."
• A nice version of the instructions to make bb run as a screensaver with IE's "active desktop". For those of you that can't be bothered to search the mailing-list archive.

The ext scripts (& my modifications to bbmrtg) will also be sent to deadcat.net.
